The Robert N. Butler papers, 1968-1969.

The Robert N. Butler papers consist of the letters, articles, typescripts and political fliers collected by Dr. Butler during the summer and fall of 1968 as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. Included is the correspondence received by Dr. Butler in response to his letter of 9 Aug. 1968 soliciting support for Eugene McCarthy's nomination. Among the respondents are many significant political figures, including Senator Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts, Governor John Connally of Texas, and Senator Joseph D. Tydings of Maryland. Other materials amassed by Dr, Butler before and during the convention include interesting ephemera , position papers from various delegations and interest groups, notes and committee papers from the District of Columbia Delegation, and a number of items related to the Task Force on Aging set up by Senator McCarthy.
